David & Mara Stadnik - The Whole Story

Friday Night
Heather, Bryan, Jeremy and I left at 5:00 to drive to MIdhurst to stay with family...but while trying to drive through Perry Sound area, we decided that we should pull off the road and stay at a "lovely" Travelodge. I use the word lovely loosely...as it was the sketchiest Travelodge that I've seen. I'm even comparing this room to the Travelodge that Chrissy and I stayed at last October. The door number was painted onto a circular saw blade; sleeping on the beds was like sleeping on a cardboard box filled with concrete; the smell was less than desireable and the bathroom wasn't the cleanest bathroom I've seen. We did however have a Don Cherry's restaurant in the hotel. I do believe that if Don Cherry were to ever see this place, he would be offended. The weather was extremely bad that at one point we were driving behind two cars about 10 feet away (double highway, we thought), NOPE...it was a transport about 2 feet infront of the car. It was a smart idea to pull off when we did, as the weather did not let up until the next afternoon.

Saturday
We drove the rest (about two hours) to Midhurst to meet up with my parents and Chrissy. The weather was still bad, but we drove behind a sand truck so that we were actually able to see the road. After getting away from the Perry Sound area, the drive was clear and sunny.

The wedding was at a upscale ski resort, I know this because the price of 3 beer from the hotel lobby cost $19.96 (without tip). The wedding party was huge...5 girls, 5 guys, a flower girl, a ring bearer (Gavin, who was the cutest of them all), and 4 other girls... Mara and David looked amazing. The dinner consisted of soup, salad, prime rib, potatoes, and chocolate mousse.

Sunday
The drive home Sunday wasn't better than the drive on Friday (or Saturday). The wind was blowing, the temperature was freezing the tire tracks on the highway, the snow was falling...in some parts it was a complete whiteout. Here is a couple of pictures that I took from the backseat of the car.

All in all it was a great wedding for David and Mara and I wish them the best of luck in their future together.

Not much snow here but lots of -40 nights.
